3 Great Ways to Get Healthy in New Port Richey

Hope everyone is doing well. Can you believe the first quarter of the year is over? We’re a quarter of the way into 2019 already. But it’s always sunshine and happiness here in New Port Richey, we love our town as I am sure you do too.

So, the question is, how has everyone’s new years resolutions gone? All those self promises to start getting fit or being more active each day. Have you gone the course?

If you have, well done you. If not, no biggie. You don’t need it to be the new year to make a fresh start. You can do that each and every day.

Now spring is upon us, why not use that as a spring board to being more active? Here’s a few things you can try out:

  1. Set yourself a goal. Goals are vital for progress, it’s something to aim for and something that can be measured. So, with more marathons, half marathons, 5k runs etc happening, why not set yourself a goal to run in one. If you’re just starting out, set your goal lower, maybe a 1k or something and then build up. Better to have many small goals you can check off that builds up to a bigger goal.
  2. If you want to try out the gym (or already go), set yourself benchmarks that you want to achieve there each week. As each week goes by, add to these goals to really build yourself up. Remember, slow and steady wins the race so don’t over do it and push yourself too much.
  3. Be consistent and change your environment. Put your gym bag by the door so you don’t forget it on the way out. Set reminders on your phone to help as well.

Above all, make it fun. If you start seeing it as a chore, it won’t happen, so always try and enjoy yourself and you will soon feel happier and healthier. Do it consistently for a couple of weeks and you will have created a habit.
