Sleepless in New Port Richey? Try these 5 Get to Sleep Tips

Sleepless nights are pretty common for many people. We see many come into our New Port Richey practice who suffer from sleepless nights due to back pain or neck pain, but not every sleepless night is caused by that. Sometimes, people simply struggle to get to sleep or even sleep all the night through and end up with broken sleep. So to help those people, we’ve come up with 5 great ways to help your sleeping patterns.

Tip Number 1

Get a warm shower before going to bed. Getting a warm shower helps to relax you and thus improve your sleep. Many studies support this, and one suggests a hot bath 90 minutes before bed is very beneficial.

Tip Number 2

Set bedroom temperature to around 70F. A comfortable room temperature will help you be more comfortable. One study found that temperature actually affects sleep more than an external noise.

Tip Number 3

Put your cell phone away. You need to relax your mind and slow it down and cell phone use before bed has been shown that it can increase brain work and make it harder to fall asleep. If you do use your phone to read however, set your phone so that the light emits is not the blue light it emits during the day. Most phones support this feature nowadays.

Tip Number 4

Eating and drinking habits before bed time. Try not to eat late at night as this can not only hinder sleep, but also cause gastric issues as well. Also, no caffeine or alcohol late in the day as this also hinders a solid sleep.

Tip Number 5

Be consistent with your bedtime and wake up times. Going to bed and sleep at the same time each night and waking up at the same time each morning helps your body into a consistent pattern which will make it easier for you to fall asleep.

Sleep is vital to our well being. If we do not sleep well, we will not function well. If we don’t function well, we’ll find our health and lives will spiral into a downward pattern. Sleep is fundamental to life and if you have trouble sleeping, try some of these tips to help you.
